Project Planner and Controller

The role

As part of our Land & Aerospace group, the Project Planner & Controller will provide advice and guidance to Saab Task Managers, CAMs and Project Managers in the areas of project planning, project monitoring & control, cost and schedule baseline maintenance and reporting of project cost and schedule status. While working on projects, this position requires the capability to define the planning, monitoring and controlling process, investigate and implement process improvement, and where possible, process automation.

Further, the successful candidate will:

  • Provide guidance in the development of the project WBS
  • Plan and establish the project schedule baseline
  • Plan and establish the project cost baseline
  • Monitor and control the project’s cost performance (monthly)
  • Plan and establish the projects cash flow profile
  • Maintain current reports for both cost and schedule performance reporting.
  • Investigate and develop improved reporting formats
  • Produce corrective action reports for CAM analysis

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Knowledge of Project Performance Measurement using Earned Value Management.
  • A background in the application of the fundamentals of Project Planning.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience in using project management software eg. Open Plan Professional™, Microsoft Projectâ.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience in using cost management software eg. COBRA™.
  • Exposure to System Engineering processes.
  • Experience working in an Earned Value Management / Defence project environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven Analytical skills relating to costs and scheduling performance and reporting.


As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an NV1 clearance.
